Is 90 degrees C to hot for my CPU?

Im running an Intel i7 4790 and I just upgraded to a GTX 1060. The temps on the GPU are fine, however now that i can play on high-ultra settings my CPU gets really hot, sometimes above 90 degrees.

I am wondering if this is to hot? Is it dangerous for the CPU? Should I buy a new cooler instead of using Intels stock cooler?

90C is too hot, that CPU shouldn't exceed 80C under gaming loads. Before replacing the stock cooler you could try cleaning the cooler of dust and reapplying the thermal paste as the thermal paste on it may be dried out since the CPU is a few years old. If you are unsure of how to do these then just use google as there's plenty of guides/videos out there. I would recommend MX4 for thermal paste as it's non conductive and is fairly inexpensive.

If you do replace the CPU cooler I would go with either the CM 212 or Cryorig H7 but you will want to make sure your case will fit either of these coolers. More information on Intel CPU temps can be found on the Intel Temperature Guide by CompuTronix...

The stock cooler for Intel CPUs is really honestly pretty horrible. Not good at all for CPU temps to be like that, so yes, you do need an after market cooler. If you're not going to be doing any overclocking, I recommend the Hyper 212 EVO.

EDIT: You can't overclock, because no K variant, oops. Hyper 212 EVO for you is easily the best bet.
