GTX 980 SC SLI vs GTX 1080 TI

I'm looking to upgrade my computer for the new wave of 4K gaming on the horizon E.G. Destiny 2. I'm currently running a single GTX 980 super clocked and I've had no issues at all with it it's a great card but I think it's time for something new need a few years now. Would SLI with the 980 even come close to the 1080 or the 1080 Ti is it just not worth the hassle at all and just drop the big bucks?

Also is the 1080 TI worth the extra money from the 1080.

Definitely go for the 1080 if you have the budget for it its a killer card that absolutely hammers the 980 and the price gap between the 1080 and 1080ti is way too high imo to justify buying the 1080ti

I would add that many games are not optimized for SLI and for those, running SLI actually degrades performance. To play those games you sometimes have to go to the Nvidia control panel and turn off SLI, then turn it back on for games that are properly optimized. Too much of a hassle. I did SLI for 3 years and don't see myself going back to that any time soon.
