I think I have read most of the post (only 2 x 960 no mix) and articles on this subject but most are over a year or two old and others are contradicting. Please comment if you want to help and if you don’t have time thanks for reading.

Current full set up in signature; however I wanted to use 950 PRO and a 960 PRO M.2 512GB
PCI-Express 3.0 to allow for 1tb in raid 0 and add a second drive 850 PRO 256GB (encrypted) for important data. This weekend I want to set this all up.

Can someone suggest what to consider and what is the best way to achieve RAID 0 on the 960+950 PRO and how to encrypt the 850, with my MOBO and setup?

I am 99% certain that you cannot RAID a M.2 PCIe and a SATA drive since they don't have a common connection.

the M.2 is communicating to the CPU while the SATA drive is communicating to the SATA controller.

the other issue would be the data transfer speed. When you have two SATA drives the controller negotiates both drives to the same transfer speed like SATA-2 or SATA-3. Since your drives are not connected to the same controller, they cannot run at the same speed.

You can only RAID like devices, SATA with SATA, and M.2 PCIe with M.2 PCIe.
