Hello everyone,

I have a temperature problem with my 4790k and a h100i V2 (pushed up the case with two noctua). The processor is delid with conductonaut. I installed 10 times the h100i (even by adding washers on the back plate) and I even tightened like a nag but nothing done. The thermal paste is kryonaut.

The i7 is at 4.6Ghz @ 1.2xV.
Under Occt latest version, large data, 8th I go up to 82 °. Under the latest version of prime95 I reach 90 ° after 15min ..

For a 4790k delid under h100i it seems to me enormous!

Can you help me ?

Config :
MSI GD65 Gaming
4790K delid
H100i V2 with 2 noctua
4x4go DDR3 2133MH 1.65V CL9
GTX 1070 msi
OCZ 1000W 80+ gold
Windows 10 64bits

PS : Sorry for my english

when you say 1.2xv... do you mean exactly 1.2v?

is there any play/wobble on the h100i block?

it should only be firmly tightened, not cranked down, as it risks stripping the threads or warping the mounting bracket

if it does have any play/wobble it won't be sitting right

other possibility is that the conductonaut might not be applied properly

Thanks you for help,

No play/wobble on the H100i. I try many way to fix it but no change.
Actually: two plastic washer on the back plate so that the axes of this plate does not exceed the motherboard + tight fitting of the 4 nuts. But it does not have to change much.

In the bios I set 1.2V.

Yes no problem with that. The fans are between 800 and 1500 according to the curve I have defined. As for the pump I have ~2000tr/min in "silence", or ~ 2900 in "performance". Although this one does not change much except the pump slightly noisy.

while delidding improves things in different amounts for each person, I would've expected more gains than that

i'm starting to wonder if something didn't go quite right with the delidding process, as that is a bit warm for a delidded 4790K @ 1.2v

Maybe the application of conductonaut was not even, or too much/too little?

My temps max out at around 72C when benching and that's a 4790K 4.6ghz @ 1.26v without delidding

kizery,

Do not use Prime95 versions later than 26.6 on 2nd through 7th Generation i3, i5 or i7 CPU's, which all have AVX (Advanced Vector Extension) Instruction Sets. Prime95 versions later than 26.6 run AVX code on the CPU's Floating Point Unit (FPU) which causes unrealistic temperatures up to 20°C higher. The FPU test in the utility AIDA64 shows similar results.

AVX can be disabled in Prime95 versions later than 26.6 by inserting "CpuSupportsAVX=0" into the "local.txt" file in Prime95's folder. However, since Core temperatures will be the same as 26.6, it's easier to just use 26.6. AVX doesn't affect Core i 1st Generation, Core 2, Pentium or Celeron processors since they don't have AVX Instruction Sets.

Please download and run Version 26.6.

Here's the operating range for Core temperature:

Core temperatures above 85°C aren't recommended.

Core temperatures increase and decrease with Ambient temperature.

As Ambient temperature increases, thermal headroom and overclocking potential decreases.

Q: What is your Ambient room temperature? Standard or normal is 22°C or 72°F.

Here's the temperature conversions and a short scale:
