Ok so I am building a new computer. I have built a few computers before with minor problems that I have managed to fix from the help of this forum.

I have been trying for 3 days straight to fix this problem by literally googling everything.

Here is my specs.
Msi z170a gaming m3 motherboard
Intel celeron g3930 2.9ghz, 2mb cache, lga1151 supports 2 channel ddr4/ddr3l
HyperX 4gb ddr4 -2133 ram
Evea 750 G2 supernover 750watt gold power supply
SanDisk ssd plus 120gb

Also have msi GeForce GTX 1060 gaming 6gb graphics card.

My problem is I can't get any display on my monitor. The fans work. The lights turn on the motherboard. The cpu light flashes and then the dram light turns on for 5 seconds then turns off.

I have gone through the checklist posted on the forum twice and to no avail nothing has worked for me. The only thing I haven't done is reset the cmos.

I have tried connecting the dvi and HDMI to the motherboard and also tried the dvi and hmdi cables connecting it with the graphics card seated in both pci_e slots on the motherboard. Still nothing.

I have had the motherboard replaced thinking that was the problem and still the same thing is happening.

I have tried booting it up with the ram in each dram slot and still nothing on the screen.

I have tried booting with the ssd unplugged.

The monitor works fine as it's the monitor I use on my personal pc.

I have reseated and replugged everything at list 4 times each whilst wearing an anti static band the whole time.

I am about ready to give up. I hope you guys/girls can help me out.

Yeah, that's a tough situation.
You need a Skylake cpu to upgrade your bios to accept your current Kaby lake CPU.
In other words....
You should return that motherboard and buy a Z270 motherboard.

Also...
Your CPU is seriously underpowered for a GTX 1060.
Game will run slow, not because of your GPU, that CPU is not up to par unless granny is using it for email.
I would get a Core i5 CPU at the least.

I definitely agree with Dark_Lord69. It is a very strange build. The CPU is very low end chip and you have no need for a z170 board. You will need more than 4gb of RAM for gaming. 4gb of RAM is now the minimum for just windows 10. Additionally, your PSU is a very good PSU, but is way too much for your system.

This build will make sense if you planned on upgrading to a i5 or i7 and using the CPU for another system. It has a good foundation for a decent system, but your CPU and RAM will not get you very far.

Ok so replying to both of you. it seems i have gone and bought something stupid..
if i return the motherboard and get a Z270 instead. will it accept my current kaby lake CPU? or will I run into the same problem with the having to update the bios?

You are completely right. I forgot to mention this machine is not for gaming. It will be a GPU mining rig.

A Z270 board will work perfect.

Don't worry about doing something stupid. It happens to the best of us.

Ah, now all of the parts make perfect sense. Good luck!
