Hello random person I just recently bought the Dell inspiron budget gaming laptop with a i5-7300 quad core, a GTX 1050 and 8gb of ddr4 and I am using Nvidia optimized Graphics settings for Minecraft and I'm only getting 15 to 20 fps and the frame rate is set to Unlimited I should be getting around 100 to 200 FPS can you help me and trying to find answers but I can't find any. Thanks

Minecraft is CPU dependent. Since that's a laptop, you won't be getting the same framerate as desktop i5 CPUs. Some things to check: Make sure Windows power settings are set to maximum performance. Laptops sometimes are set to battery saving modes, which is not good for gaming since games needs maximum performance. Game while using your AC adapter and wall outlet, don't game while using the battery. Some laptops won't perform to their potential unless you are on AC power.

Finally, run something like MSI Afterburner while playing the game. Use the onscreen display to verify that the game is using your 1050.

Try checking your device manager to be sure the 1050 shows up under display devices. even if it doesn't, minecraft is CPU dependent. Try what he said by changing the power plan to high performance (under power options in the control panel, or win key+X). Also run minecraft in windowed mode and open up your task manager. See what your clock rate is and how much RAM is being used.

Okay, go to your minecraft video settings IN minecraft and post a screenshot or something of that so we can see what nvidia is setting them to. Also do what he was saying about the java version.

You should be able to search for the Java control panel from your windows search menu. You also can go to "programs and features" under the control panel and see there. It usually will have an x64 by the name in programs and features if it is a 64 bit installation java. If you are running a standalone minecraft launcher however, it wont matter what version of Java you have. We really need the screenshot of the video settings from minecraft.

Well to start, I do believe that JAVA isn't required to run minecraft anymore. So theoretically, you should be able to just uninstall it. (Provided you don't need it for something else.) If your frame rates are still poor, you could check to see how much RAM you have allocated to minecraft. I believe it starts at one GB of RAM, and for your build I'd recommend allocating 3-4 GB of RAM. Also I just want to put out there, that your build isn't "Top Of The Line," and you shouldn't try to have MAX render distance enabled. As well as what the people above me have stated, your CPU just isn't really that good, and you need to compensate for that.

mega i would disagree, your speaking of the standalone version, recently i've had 2 cases that had the wrong version of java and it limited the amount of ram. not everyone uses the standalone, and honestly you don't need a beefy build for minecraft

You're right, you dont need a beefy build, but a better CPU would definitely solve this issue. As well as checking to see if there are driver updates, and if he is using the correct version of Java.

I have a strong feeling it is something misconfigured in the video settings. i had a WAY crappier laptop from 2007 that would average 40 FPS easy by tweaking some settings.
