I current have a 5960x. Would like to eventually upgrade to a 6950x. I own a ga-x99p-sli mobo. Is it possible to switch the two keeping the same windows installation? thanks

Thanks for the reply. No possibility of having to reinstall windows? I'm in audio and it's ALOT of work to get it up and running

99% of the time it'll work perfectly. I have seen issues with it trying to stick with original number of threads from.the first CPU, usually it can be fixed however. Be sure to update bios before removing your current CPU as it probably won't support the 6950x without an update
