Hi Everyone

I build a somewhat high end gaming computer about a year ago and was extremely happy with result. Everything was working great for about 6-7 months and the suddenly I started noticing some weird behavior when gaming, browsing, general use of my computer. It started to lag quite a lot and multitasking got almost impossible. First thing I noticed was that hovering over desktop icons seems to be very laggy. Like if I slowly move my mouse down over the icons it seems to lag out untill 'I actually stopped my cursor over an icon. Also when playing games I like to tab out to either watch a movie or browse Google chrome, but that has almost gotten impossible because tabbing out causes insane lag for both the browser and the game. I have also been playing quite a lot of PlayerUknown's Battleground and my 1080 GTX is having the same amount of FPS compared to my frieds 770 GTX. Granted PUBG has terrible optimization so that might be why, but in general I have seen a decrease in my computers performance by a large margin, more than what you would expect from 1 year of use.

You can see my specs here: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/JLTHM8

I have been running all possible system checks and been googling like a maniac through various solution and optimizations. I have even reinstalled my OS, but to no use. Something that should be mentioned is that I updated my BIOS about 3 months ago and I don't remember having these problems before that. Not sure if a new bios update could cause these problems. My computer also sometimes doesent wanna boot. If I click the start button it just stays on black screen untill I forcefully shut it down and start i back up (and then in every scenario it starts up without any issues). The system also runs random disc checks when I start up the computer, but finds no errors what so ever.

Has anyone experienced anything like this before?

It's extremly frustrating that a 2000$ computer are having these issues. All help would be greatly appreciated!

Regards

I have not tried swapping GPU with a friend. Could try that when I get home later today. Think my roomie got a 1060 in his build that I can use. How would I revert the bios? Just flash it to an old version or?

Figured it out! Apparantly deleting all partions on my OS drive and completely reinstalling Windows 10 did the trick. It's running extremely smooth now like it should. I have done this before, but back then i didn't work. Now it did somehow...?
