Adding new OS drive into PC with RAID 0

Hi!

I currently have 2 of my hard drives (both 500 GB) connected into a RAID 0.

So first question would be how to check if this RAID is software, hardware or maybe controlled by MOBO. (hardware and OS listed at the end)

I have Intel Matrix Storage and it shows the whole RAID configuration, status, etc. Windows sees (via Manage > Storage > Disk Management) that space as Volume 0. Additional software like Pifiform Speccy also shows exact same data.

I firstly had Win Vista on this PC, but upgraded to Win 7 (while getting additional RAM + 1 TB drive). I don't remember now, but I'm pretty sure I didn't use the "upgrade" Vista > 7, as Vista was 32bit while I wanted to have 64bit Win 7, so I had to install it clean / custom. But the RAID didn't break, data wasn't lost (aside from C drive, but that's understandable while performing a format during OS install if I did it, but like I said - I don't remember, it was like in 2013 or 2014 I think). This kinds of points out that RAID might be hardware one or MOBO controlled. But I don't know. Hence first question. Now onto the second one.

Now I want to give this PC another breath with an SSD. I read suggestions that it's better to install the OS clean (instead of using software like CloneZilla to copy Windows&boot partitions from current HDD to SSD), I will do that (install a clean Win 7), I have no problem with this. But how to ensure that the RAID won't break? Or what to do right after the OS is installed to prepare the OS for the RAID (for easier install, I'll plug the current OS HDD off [so both 500 GB] so that my current OS&boot partitions won't interfere with the new ones)?

I didn't do any magic during Win 7 installation or right after it after those 3-4 years ago but I guess now it will be different.

This is mostly for my convenience, I plan to backup all data I have in case something bad happens (got enough space on external drive and another PC), but let's assume that I will need 5h to backup ~1 TB (from the 2x500 RAID) that means ~10h of just copy/pasting files (well it will most likely be way more). Kind of a waste if there is a simply solution to prevent it with few clicks or something.

Any suggestions appreciated :)

Thanks in advance!

Have a nice day!

OS:
Windows 7 Pro x64 installed on the RAID 0 Volume

Hardware (current)
GA-EP43-DS3R
2x Samsung 500GB HDD
1x WDC 1TB HDD

Hardware (additional)
1x Seagate 1TB HDD
1x 240 GB SSD

I'll list other things if needed.

PS If it will break either way (or chances are very high) and all data will go KIA I might end up just getting rid of this RAID (with SSD even on 3Gb/s SATA used for OS + apps I probably won't even see the RAID 0 R/W speed increase it provides) to prevent any other future problems with data on those HDDs.

Hi.

Since I got the SSD, I decided to get rid of the RAID 0 setup whatsoever (having backup data on external drive) as the performance of RAID 0 will still be (way) less then the SSD used for the same purpose (OS, apps, games). And at the same time keeping RAID 0 for data storage would still posses a threat of data loss when something bad happens .

Thread can be closed, thanks if anyone tried to research anything related to this question.
