Would a 400W PSU suffice?

Hello everyone!

I currently have a PC with the following specs:
Intel Celeron Dual Core E3400 @ 2.66 Ghz
Nvidia GT 440 1GB
2 GB DDR2 RAM

So my question is, would my 400W KY-400ATX PSU be able to handle a Core 2 Quad Q6600 and an additional 2GB DDR2 stick of RAM?

I know my PC is a piece of junk, but it's all i can currently afford and if I was able to upgrade to said processor it would make my life that much better.

Cheers.

You need to be VERY carefull about cheap ddr2 ram kits on ebay. This has been a "scam" for almost a decade now.
There is what is called low density and high density ram

For how super cheap that kit is, I can all but guarantee it is high density which ONLY works on a very limited selection of hardware (and if I remember right, it is not compatible with intel at all).

Of course it will. Why don't you buy modified Xeon E5450 instead aka q9650 (19$ on Ali express) and get 8 Gb of ram (20$ on Ebay)? It will make your PC comparable with G4560 system, not bad for 40 $ investment.

I've bought ram on ebay and it works perfectly on my LGA 775 mobo. It's made by Hyundai Electronics not some no name brand. You can also get Samsung sticks around this price. The only thing you should look at when buying is to buy from seller with high reputation score (lots of positive reviews) and that it says ram is for intel mobos (many are only AMD compatible).
