So i have Q6600 CPU with Artic Freezer Cooler, today i booted my PC and checked the temperature of my CPU it was from 50 C to 65 , i would say that is good, when i opened a game and started playing the CPU temperature has increased to 95 C, i have already replaced the CPU cooler, but i didnt put the paste on does that make a so large difference ?

Yes Paste makes the difference but still that 95'C thats too much without the paste how much it was previosly?

You didn't use any paste at all? lol. Yeah that is clearly your problem. Metal to metal is not an effective way to conduct heat, I am frankly surprised it is doing as well as it is. I wouldn't use the PC until you put some paste on.

Depends on how close-to-perfectly-smooth the metal surfaces in contact are. In an ideal world with perfect flatness there would be no need for thermal paste since every point on the surface would be in contact with the other metal surface. But in reality there are microscopic gaps. Seems the CPUs and heatsinks have enough points of contact to keep the temperatures at least survivable.
So i used like a small blade and i jently removed the paste from my cpu before i did put it in a socket, is that maybe the reason why its overheating, personaly i dont think that is causing the overheating, i dont even see any marks of scrubing.
