ASUS Strix 1080ti OC, feel like I am getting low FPS

Hey guys, i just installed my new video card the other day and I feel like I am not getting the right performance when looking at my fps counter.... here are my computer specs

Alienware Aurora R4
3930k processor overclocked to 4.4 Ghz
16gb hyper x ram
1900x1200 resolution monitor

Graphics Card I have overclocked it following a guide I read online past the factory OC
Asus Strix 1080ti OC

GPU Boost MHz 01753
Memory Clock MHz 11010
Power Target 100

I have played Battlefield maxed right out and I am getting 120-170 fps, while playing conquest it dropped down to 90-120fps.

I bought this computer back in 2013 and the only thing I have upgraded was the graphics card! I have heard things like bottlenecking or that my monitor resolution is too low for the card, but I'm not too sure what that mean or if that's even my problem

Any help or input on the situation is appreciated

Your card is probably being bottlenecked. a 1080TI on a 1080P monitor should be overkill, and you shouldn't be getting any frame dips. Can you try this card on another PC?

No other PC to test on unfortunately, would getting a 1440p monitor help? What would be the best processor I can put in a 2011 socket for gaming? So don’t get bottleneck

A 1440p monitor wouldn't improve performance but it would balance out the load a bit. You might even get the exact same FPS at a higher resolution if your CPU is bottlenecking you. My guess is that if you ran a program like HWInfo while you played Battlefield 1 you would see that your CPU is at 100% load while your 1080Ti is not.

At 1080p your older CPU is almost always going to be the limiting factor. That being said the performance you are seeing isn't bad. You just bought a GPU that is meant for 4K and 1440p gaming and connected it to a 1080p monitor.

Okay well that’s good news to hear, was planning to get a 1440p monitor in the next couple months! Regarding my processor... what would be the best one to buy for gaming with the 2011 socket? Currently have he 3930k and unfortunately 7700k doesn’t fit my motherboard

I would just try a 1440p 144Hz monitor first and see if you are happy with performance. It won't be any better than what you see at 1080p but at least you will be putting that 1080 Ti power to use. If you can fit it into your budget go with one that has Gsync support. Anything over 100 FPS should look and feel pretty great on a monitor like that.
