hey guys,im browsing the internet and looking ath the different gens of intel processors, and I saw the last gen that supported ddr3 (normal, not ddr3l or whatever) was haswell and broadwell,my question is,what is the last one of those? or are they pretty much the same in the same gen? which one I should look more into? (im looking at this because I have ddr3 that Im not willing to throw away)

There were some Skylake 1151 motherboards that support DDR3L not DDR3, while DDR3 does work, Intel recommends against its usage.

Seriously as I said you're better off selling your ram and whatever other parts you can and buying a DDR4...

You really don't have to throw anything away. eBay has a healthy DDR3 market, sell your old ram and buy a new Kabylake processor and DDR4.

Investing on an old dead platform despite the fact it still performs well just to keep an old pair of memory DIMMs in play is not a smart move.

The fastest ever LGA1150 chip was the 5775C Broadwell. In many apps it is more than competitive with desktop Skylake and Kaby Lake because of its enormous 128MB eDRAM used as L4 cache, something Intel has never again put into a socketed desktop processor.

You certainly wouldn't save any money as they go for a pretty penny for just this reason.

I was looking for 1151 socket processors because im already looking models of ddr3 motherboards that are 1151, and those are 1150, which one do you recommend on this socket? (to clarify really "simple) what I need/want is the last gen of processors that a) supported ddr3 normal, and b) were 1151 sockets, (the mobo I have 3 in sight)
