1 slot not detecting DDR4, swapped sticks all not detected

I have 4 x 8gb Corsair LPX DDR4-3000 RAM plugged into a ASRock X99 WS Motherboard.
DDR4_D1 is not detected (In BIOS shows nothing, and when PC Boots it says 24GB instead of 32gb).

I swapped out the stick thinking it was faulty, but none of the 4 are detected in D1. I had some spare sticks so I tried them. Same result.

Sounds like a faulty motherboard, but I'm wondering if I can safely put the sticks in A2/B2/C2/D2 and expect it to detect 32gb and work properly?

I've read the manual but it is not very helpful.

thanks

Ok, Checked CPU slot. No bent pins.
Backed off tension a little (Cooler is Corsair H100i V2)
Still not detecting any modules in DDR4-D1

Moved all modules to A2/B2/C2/D2.
System will not boot. Error code 53 ("problem with memory").

I've contacted retailer and let them know I want to RMA the board.
