Hello everyone, I'm building a PC currently and I have almost bought all the pieces.

I have a question about which is better, i was origianlly going to buy i5 7600k but a friend offered me a brand new unopened i7 7770 with a 3 year warranty for the same price as i5 7600k.

I bought the i7 from my friend for 250 euros, the i5 is 245 at the moment in the stores.
I have been doing some researching and im doubting if i made the right decision.

Is i5 7600k better for gaming, since i wont be doing any streaming anyways, or should i sell my unopened i7 7770 and go for i7 7770 K version what do you guys think.

Would you have chose i5 or i7 with the difference of 5 euros.

What fps are you aiming for? If 4k 60fps the 2 will perform the same. If aiming for high (>100) fps it will come down to the game. Most games benefit from higher single core performance and an overclocked 7600k wins this, but some newer games and the way things seem to be going is a benefit from more threads.

Personally I think the 7700 is a much better buy but I wouldn't have been looking at an i5. For me the question should be Ryzen or i7, the 4 cores of the i5 just look dated now and we already know next gen i3's will be 4 core and i5's & i7's 6 core so 4 cores is becoming the bottom end of the cpu spectrum (I say this as an i5 owner).

Won't be getting a 4k monitor in the near future, I have a 144hz monitor so im aiming to push over 144 fps with the best possible settings. (when it's possible of course)

EDIT: Never really overclocked aswell so, im really inexperienced in that field.
