So a while back i bougth a set of 3x 2gb crosshair memory (Was mixing timings wich i know was bad) too bump up my ram for pubg (because my ram was always at 100% use). But once i set my ram speed to 1674 windows will only regonize 8gb out of the 12gb.

So after not getting to work i found another 3x 2gb that was the same to the latest ram i bougth (Same timings/voltage) (Got it today) but the same issue is occuring. 8gb on 1674 mhz/1.65v and 1337 mhz it shows 12gb.

So am kinda pissed cuz if spend 45 euro's in total for those 2 kits and it just doesnt want to regonize 12gb in windows...

Setup:

Xeon x5670 @ 4ghz
Asus rampage III Extreme
12 GB RAM (2 kits of Crosair TR3X6G1600C8D)
GTX 970

What cooler do you have on your cpu? some of them when tightened to much will screw with the cpu/pad alignment and give funny memory readings. Im running a R3E board with a 5690 149x27 @ 4.03Ghz with 6X4GB sticks and its seeing all of them.

CPU V. 1.25
QPI?Dram 1.2v
Dram Bus 1.6695v
CPU PLL 1.8285v

Using multiple kits of RAM commonly leads to results you are getting, which is why using multiple kits is not recommended.

Memory manufacturers guarantee the rated specifications of any memory to be obtainable only in the kit it is sold in.

Mixing multiple kits of memory is doing you own compatibility testing with memory that has never been tested together. Such combinations carry no guarantee as to how they will work together, if at all.

I never checked but its 8gb so but when testing both kits as 3x2 the first kit i got shows 6gb and the other kit only 4gb. So i think a stick is faulty. Because after some more changes i did get the ram to run at 1600mhz

Not completely true with the 1st gen 1366 boards. I bought an EVGA board with a 6x2GB kit and when it boots up will just randomly give you anywhere from 8-12GB. Ive tried 3 different 6 stick kits all of them do the same. Gave the whole system to my brother and built a new (at the time) Asus R3E board with a 950 and two 3x2GB mushkin kits, ran for many years and have just now upgraded it to 2 3x4gb mushkin kits without issues. Its ether a low voltage setting not powering the ram enough or a over tightened cooler.

Im running both 8 pin ESP + both Molex,

Try with 1333Mhz, at stock cpu speed it will not take anything above that. The Xeons are only ratted at 1333Mhz, I can only get over that with a CPU OC, I just bumped to a 150*27 giving me a 1504Mhz ram speed.

Well one of the sticks of the second i got today one of em is broken. Pc will not boot when only that stick is in.

So i put back my first ever kit i had with the other 3x2gb kit and i got it to run on 1600mhz now and 12gb. Im gonna go contact the seller of that other kit and see if i can get my money back.

So currently i have 1 kit of 3x2gb (CMX6GX3M3A1600C9) and 1 kit of (TR3X6G1600C8D) that is running at 1600mhz on the 9-9-9-24 timings.

And cpu running on a 20x multiplier with the block set to 200

No both kits were the same, one stick was just faulty. Gonna contact the seller and see if i can return it.

Glad you got it sorted. I go to the BIOS first before trying to look in Windows for this type of issue. Also you seem pretty savvy so you know you will likely have to loosen up timings a bit or bump the voltage just a hair to run 4 sticks(Not always but pretty often when you go from 2 to 4 sticks you will need to do this).

Yea thats why im really confused i bougth that second kit of the TR3X6G1600C8D because first these mixed sticks would not run at 1600mhz but now it does.
