Hi,

I am having a 5 year old PC with Core i3 2120 CPU and 4 GB of RAM. I want to use this PC to connect with my home theatre system to use it as HTPC. My motherboard does not have a HDMI output port. So I need a graphics card for getting the ports. I am planning to connect my monitor to the VGA port of the graphics card and the projector to the HDMI port to have 2 displays with different resolutions (is that possible ?). Suggest me if GT 710 would be sufficient ? or a better card at the same price point.

I doubt you'll see much of a performance boost over your integrated graphics and I don't know about 4K. As I don't have a 4K display, I can't say how well it would play that content.

The GT 710 should be perfect for your needs. I currently run an AMD HD4670 (ancient by today's standards) for a similar set up. I run the HDMI cable to my 720p HDTV and a DVI to HDMI cable to my 1080p projector (audio goes through my optical out to my Home Theater Audio System).

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I too have almost similar setup. I have a WUXGA Projector (1920x1200) so i have to run HDMI port to support this resolution and a monitor (1600x900) through VGA cable. Is that possible. The audio goes via optical out. Will I see any significant performance boost while connecting this card. Will it play 4K video as well ?
