Just some questions....

I know the Sata 2 is the downgraded and the Sata 3 is the upgraded. Is the Sata 3 cable the same as Esata cable?

Are there any fake Sata 3 out there? I'm asking because I can't seem to tell the difference between the Sata 2 & Sata 3? One source says it must have "Sata 3" printed on the cable to be real. The silver clip is one way to tell but without the clip just by looking inside the pins, the Sata 2 & Sata 3 look the same. Any ways to tell?

Also, is there a way to test the cable speed? Just in case I bought fake ones.

All cables will work in sata 2 and sata 3 ports. In regards to sata cables - copper wire is copper wire.

The "sata 3" cable is as big of a marketing gimmick as $120 monster "high speed" HDMI cables.

Esata is a port that had some popularity and then fizzled right back out once USB 3.0 hit the stage.
It was simply a different port design (had nothing to do with sata 2 or 3) to use with esata external hard drive docs.
This is kind of like USB C vs USB A (the normal rectangle port). A usb 3.1 gen 2 port can go the same speed, doesnt matter if it is type A or type C port.
