Hey guys got a new build. Using a gigabyte b250-d3h with a msi geforce gtx 1050ti(OC edition)

Tried to use Initial display output at PCIe 1 slot in mobo bios. But I didn't get any display on main display connected to mobo vga I guess, I have to connect to the hdmi of graphics card. Am I right?

But that's not something that I want. I have a really old monitor no HDMI port. GPU ain't got any vga o/p. I wan't windows to use the dedicated graphics wherever necessary(like when I start up unreal engine or stuff like gaming).

Solution
doesn't work that way in a desktop, you are either plugged into the GPU or the iGPU (mobo).

If you could plug it into the gpu, then when it is doing nothing difficult, then it would be running at idle, and using very little power.

There was a technology called virtu, that would allow you to do what you want, but it didn't work well.

Get an active HDMI to VGA converter.

okay, thanks a lot for the advice guys, graphics card got a dvi o/p too. I came to know from a youtube video (https://youtu.be/xMVDejZH4kw) that dvi to vga converters are better. So I am gonna go with that.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I never bought a desktop for my self before, definitely never a dedicated graphics card thus the ignorance. So if I'd like to play gta V or some gotta go with gtx 1050 o/p connections right, no other way eh?

How are laptops able to switch between igfx and dedicated? Any links?
