Hello,

I bought a Corsair vengance LPX DDR4 16GB (2x8) 3200mhz kit for my Ryzen build.
On my first boot, I noticed the system stats in the bios was only showing 8GB of ram.

I immediately thought it was the issue of the motherboard (Asus Prime x370 Pro). I flashed the bios to the latest update and also cleard the cmos multiple times. After speaking to Asus customer service, I thought I had a faulty board.

I decided to try to ram in my friends build and saw the same issue. Only 8GB of the 16GB kit was being detected. He is using an MSI X370 Gaming Pro board.

I think I got a bad kit of ram, but have you guys had any similar issues with your 1st Ryzen Build?

Both 8GB sticks are shown when I check the components in the bios but, but only 8 is shown as available. Both sticks are. I am getting the same issue on my friends board, so I don't think its the the DIMM slots. I did try switching around the ram, but the same issue persists.

I booted into windows and 16GB is shown but only 8 usable. I checked CPU-z and only 8gb is shown.

I feel very slow for not checking that first.
One of the sticks are indeed bad. I tried both and one does not boot.

Simple test I should've thought of first. Not even asus tech support suggested that.

Thanks for the help.

Which version of windows are you using? (i.e. Windows 7 Home, or Windows 8.1 Pro)

NVM.... Glad you got it figured out. If both were good, then knowing which OS and which version would tell us if you hit an OS limitation, (32-bit obviously caps at 4GB with less usually available, 64-bit, well the OS plays a larger part on what the cap is.)
