I built my first PC today, Specs below

Ryzen 5 1600,
GTX 1080,
Asus 350 Strix,
500GB Western Blue ,
Coolmaster 5 Case,
Etc.

I have experienced issues updating the windows version, I installed windows that's outdated and when trying to update it the computer freezes. I installed Rocket league from steam and launched it, only to get 1-3 fps on the menu. I am not sure what is causing this and cannot check my Nvidia 1080 Driver as my windows version is not able to install it without updates. Currently am trying to install a more updated version of windows but am curious if anyone else has had similar issues and knows how to fix it?

Thanks

Thanks everyone for your help, I managed to get it working.

I installed a more updated version of windows over the outdated version which seemed to fix all issues as I could install the driver and all updates worked.

Are you sure you connected your HDMI port to the graphics card and not the motherboard silver slate?
If you did, then update your Windows version and update the graphics card driver and u r good to go, i had similar issues myself

I have my display port plugged in from my monitor to the GPU.

Do I need a driver for my GPU for it to function properly?

Yes, please headover to Nvidia's website, select your driver's Model and build and download drivers, Also download Nvidia Geforce Experience to auto update in the future, Which i helped :D

I would but since i figured it out myself (no actual answers) I feel like it would mislead people, I guess if you quote my fix then I could choose it as best answer, but I'll put solved in the title anyway.
