HP Xw9400 will not boot with hexacore cpu

I just put in a pair of opteron 2431 hexacore cpus on my hp xw9400. it powers on but doesn't boot. I have seen others on this site have had the same issue. Is there a fix?? or bios update?? I'm pretty sure these are supported cpu and it takes hexacores. any fixes or bios updates? what am i doing wrong?

the important number is the boot block date. if the date is before 4/6/09 the CPU will not work. only boards dated/made after 4/6/09 can support the 2400 series and then only the D0 revision
you need to boot into BIOS and for that you will need a CPU that the board can see.
my thought is you have an older board that will not run with the chip or the BIOS needs to be updated to the proper version.
in both cases you will need a working CPU, dual core preferably to boot the system and check the BIOS version and boot block date.

the motherboards that support the 2400 are dated 4/6/09 or later. is that board one of them?
are the processors D0 revision chips?
will the board boot with one hexacore chip installed?
if your BIOS reports an earlier date...

I'll try next week when my quad comes in. If it works ill check the boot lock n stuff if not I'll grab a dual and try.

FYI this is becoming a real PITA.
