Could I just use a 32 GB usb as a faster storage device than a normal 7200 rpm hardrive

not very good only if it is usb 3.0 and usb sticks are not ment to be used that way anyways, just get a small ssd in that case for 60 bucks, like a 64 gb one or, 70 bucks for something bigger like 120 gb
