Hello

I buy a ssd ( cause i have my O.S in a HDD) so i use a new USB 2.0 to create a bootable USB through Windows 10 installation media (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10) . i Change the boot order in my BIOS and when i click "install" in the windows 10 setup this error appear :

"A media driver your computer needs is missing. This could be a DVD,USB or hard disk driver. If you have CD, DVD or USB flash drive on it, please insert it now."

I already try differents solutions like: Change the USB port after click cancel... Download asus driver for Sata and Intel drivers for AHCI, Use shift+f10 and disk list to see the disk...

Note: I still have the O.S in my HDD

My Specs:

MOBO: Asus z170-k
GPU: 980 TI (MSI)
CPU: I56400
HDD: Toshiba
SSD: Kingston (Normal)

Finally I solved the problem.

The cause of the error "A media driver your computer needs is missing" may be that the ISO image is corrupt. I did not expect that because I downloaded the entire 4 GB image directly from Microsoft without any error from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO

As Microsoft does not provide a hash you cannot verify the downloaded file.

Now MS tool is supposed to check file integrity before making ISO but it doesn't hurt to have extra verification especially since you are having problems.Try downloading on another system, then run some hash generating tool & compare MD-5...

If your drive is the same size or smaller than the SSD you can clone over the data and get an exact copy of your current OS on the new drive. If it is to big you can attempt to shrink the volume below the size of the SSD. This will only "remove" un-used space on the drive and put it into an unallocated section on the drive, the OS will then only see the allocated space on the drive.

If the above options arent available you need to create a USB bootable install for windows 10. From what you said it sounds like you just dropped the ISO file on the flash drive. That won't work. You need to get a software tool that will make the flash drive bootable. There are plenty on the internet and many ISO software packages will include an option to make bootable disks and drives.

MS tool may give some issues some times.Try the method I posted earlier, you just need to download the ISO of win 10 using MS tool then mount that ISO & then simply copy everything inside ISO to pendrive formatted as FAT32.

P.S.disconnect your hdd while trying to install win 10 on ssd.
