I have an intel E5300 cpu at 2.6 ghz with intel stock cooler, local 450w psu and g41 express chipset. I want to overclock it at the maximum with stock cooler without damaging anything! I wanted to know how far can I overclock it for gaming on it and which method should I use to overclock it efficiently as I am new to overclocking?

Solution
i would go for a modded 771 xeon, and a decent cooler. a xeon x5460 sells for about 20 us dollars on aliexpress with free shipping, and its faster than a core 2 quad q9650. with a decent cooler(something like a hyper 212) you can overclock it to atleast 4ghz easily. x5460 at 4.3ghz is literally 4 times faster than your e5300.
its gonna be a HUUUUGE bump in performance for less than 50 bucks
Corsair H100i v2 AIO cooler and Corsair RM550x PSU... They are a little costly but you can use them in future builds if you upgrade, so it will be a better investment... or else you can go for Hyper 212 evo and corsair cx550 psu

Best thing for you to do is:

A. get a new system that cpu is weak and no amount of overclocking will help (also the money you need to invest in it is not worth it). Also whats your motherboard and psu (need model, brand,...)
B. get a core 2 quad as it's a better idea than oc'ing if your board supports it.
