I have gigabit Ethernet hooked up to LAN which I connect to home server and htpc. I have usb WiFi adapter which I use to connect to WAN(internet). The problem is I can't browse the internet unless I disconnect my Ethernet cable which obviously isn't connected to the internet. Somehow only Google and YouTube are working when the Ethernet connection to LAN is plugged in. I want to isolate my home server from WAN. So I am using two separate routers one for WAN and other for LAN.
The WAN is working fine I can connect my android phone and browse the internet so I know it's not the problem.
Any input will be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

The easiest way I've found to isolate a PC from the internet (WAN) whilst still allowing LAN traffic is to give the PC a static IP address, and then point it to an invalid gateway address.

let's assume your router is at 192.168.0.1

Set your PC to 192.168.0.2 (or any number up to 254), subnet 255.255.255.0 and a gateway address of say 192.168.0.253 (Of course, there must be nothing using this address).

You can browse your LAN, PCs will be able to connect to your server, and the server will have no connection to the internet.

Also, rather than disconnect the Ethernet cable you could just disable the connection in network & Sharing.
Having multiple active connections will typically cause confusion. There are ways around this using...

Having multiple active connections will typically cause confusion. There are ways around this using various metrics settings, but it can be painful to get it to work correctly, at least in my experience.
