I just built a new pc (first time builder) and everything went smoothly. I am using a gigabyte g1 gaming gtx 1080 that has some displayport ports (monitor doesn't support displayport) an hdmi port (my cord cannot take advantage of the 144hz monitor and I cannot get a new cord), and a dvi-d port. When I plug the hdmi cable, there are no problems except that it only runs at 60hz instead of the monitor's 144hz, but when I plug my dvi-d cable, the monitor does not detect a signal! Please, all help will be appreciated, as I would like to use both my graphics card and my monitor to their full potential.
Please Help! DVI-D port on gtx 1080 shows no signal.

You can buy a display port to HDMI cable for about $8, btw.....
Not sure of the refresh limitations of assorted HDMI standards, but, there are at least 2-3 HDMI standards now, some supporting up to 4k/60 Hz...; the type of cable matters, too....
