Hi guys! I just recently bought two 4K monitors and so I would like upgrade my computer a bit. I'd like to invest around $250. Could you please tell me where is the bottleneck in my rig and what would be the best thing I should update? I was thinking of getting a second GTX 970 or getting another GPU to connect it to the existing GPU. Is that a good idea? Thanks for the help! I will appreciate any help.

Here's my rig:

  • CPU Intel Core i7-4790K
    MOTHERBOARD ASUS Z97-K
GPU MSI GeForce GTX 970 GAMING 4G
    HDD Seagate Desktop HDD 1TB
    RAM Crucial Ballistix DDR3 16GB (2x8GB) 1600MHz
    SSD SAMSUNG 840 EVO 250GB, MZ-7TE250
    RAM Crucial Ballistix DDR3 24GB (3x8GB) 1600MHz
    Corsair CX650M

Solution
As said above the gpu,the only problem is that the gpu's mentioned are way above $250 and the gtx 1060 isn't that much better to spend that kind of money on.
Your motherboard doesn't support sli so another gtx 970 is also out of the question.Maybe you could sell the gtx 970 and see what you could get money combined.

Sell the gtx 970 and try to get a gtx 1080 or 1080 ti. Sli is not a good idea since most games don't support it or have a very minor increase in performance for the ones that do support it. Also why 2 psus?

I think the bottleneck may be your PSU. Andtheamount of Voltage its providing. Maybe check into this.

Thanks the answer!

I only have the second PSU, I forgot to delete the previous one from the list.

Thanks for your suggestion! Could you tell me how do I check into it? Is there some sort of a test I can try to see if that is the issue?

Thanks Vic, at least I won't have to think about it for now. Any suggestions as to what I should upgrade?
