Recently I've had a large variety of problems with my pc, firstly, I wasn't getting no signal to my monitor through my GTX 970, so I decided to remove it and plug my monitor directly into the motherboard, this then posted to my monitor fine. Assuming it was a motherboard problem, I bought a new motherboard to replace my old MSI H61M-P31 (G3), when changing motherboard I realised I didn't have ddr4 ram so I switched the motherboard back to the old one. Now, my pc will boot for one to two minutes then shut down with no warning, all of a sudden, any thoughts as to what could cause this problem?

PC SPECS:
GPU-GTX 970
CPU- an old one which isn't very good but I have no money to upgrade it
PSU- corsair CX500
Ram- 2 different sticks of 4gb ddr3 ram
Motherboard- MSI H61M-P31 (G3)

Sorry for such a long question but I felt all the little details could of been necessary, thanks in advance

Monitor your CPU temp with cpu-z, and run a memtest for a few hours, let me know the results.

Sadly I can't test my cpu temp as the pc dosent stay on long enough, it allows me to log into my account, then the screen freezes and after around 2 mins it will just shut down, not even a proper shut down it will literally just stop working

You can still try to run a memtest for a few hours. Memtest is a software you boot into. If the computer crashes, it will, but try it at least.

When you try to change around your setup, did you remove your CPU cooler?

I tried to change motherboards yesterday, but when I realised my ram didn't fit I switched it back, I removed everything from the motherboard including the cpu fan and cpu, then upon trying to boot up I get a few different things, sometimes I boots straight up but then shuts down and sometimes it boots up to a black screen with a number in the bottom corner such as 99 or C5 and then sometimes I get the windows crash error screen

Did you clean the surface area of the cpu and cooler, and reapply new thermal paste? Are all wires properly connected? (There are two power connectors on the motherboard, often the second one is forgotten). Did you bend any pins on the CPU by accident?

Sadly yes, I bent about 3 pins on the cpu which was my initial thought as to why the pc is not functioning, but until I get some ddr4 ram there is no way to prove this as I have borrowed a friends old cpu to test, but of course that cpu is for a different socket so I've had to buy a new motherboard and ram so I'm hoping that's the extent of the spending, Thankyou very much for the assistance and I will get back to you in about 3 days when my ram arrives
