Basically a few months ago my power went out while my desktop was on. After this happened my desktop restarted, and then it never booted to Windows 10 ever again. Long story short with that storage device is that i figured out it was stuck on and automatic repair loop. i tried literally everything to attempt fixing it, but i ended up having to buy a whole new ssd and windows copy in order to used my desktop again.

The problem i am having now is that i want to retrieve a lot of important files from that device but whenever i plug SATA cables into it and power my desktop decides it wants to try booting that SSD, which leads me to a completely black screen that will never go away until i restart. I have tried setting boot priority to the new SSD but that is not working. I have also tried plugging in the old SSD when my computer is launched , but it still doesn't show up in file explorer or in computer management viewing connected storage disks.

I have tried explaining whats going on to the best of my ability. so if there is anybody who could possibly tell me a possible fix i would appreciate it.

Solution
This is what I’ve down when my OS SSD gets Housed.
Connect it to a USB port (Need a cable or a USB sata enclosure. Should see multiple partitions (ie Boot/Restore/OS). If you can see the OS partition, then you can copy your data off
Example: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812400542&cm_re=sata_to_usb_cable-_-12-400-542-_-Product

Others Choices (As Low as $5): https://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=sata+to+usb+cable&ignorear=0&N=-1&isNodeId=1

If This works and you have pulled all your data files, then I’d remove all partitions and reformat the drive.
If Windows disk management does not work then you can run Diskpart from a Cmd prompt (Run as administer)...

If Windows disk management does not work then you can run Diskpart from a Cmd prompt (Run as administer).

Sequence: “Diskpart” then “List Disk” then “Select disk X” (Xis the disk number shown when you did List Disk), Last step enter “Clean”
