Hey guys,

My current setup is an AMD FX 6300 and a GIGABYTE GTX 750 2GB. Here is a link to the video card. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125510.

Three weeks ago, I bought this ASUS monitor. https://www.amazon.com/VG248QE-1920x1080-144Hz-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B00B2HH7G0/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1503847621&sr=1-4&keywords=asus+monitor

I'm trying to get a consistent 144 fps in League of Legends. I'm currently playing on the highest settings. Decreasing my settings does not increase my in-game fps. I capped my FPS to 144 fps. My fps starts at 144, then it fluctuates between 90-120 fps. Sometimes, it drops to 60 or 55 fps in heavy team fights.

My question is how can I achieve a stable 144 fps at 1080p in League of Legends on the highest settings?

My Biostar TA970 can't achieve a stable overclock with the FX 6300. I got 8GB of Team Vulcan RAM https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820313355 and 8GB of Corsair Vengeance LP RAM https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233186. League is installed in a Kingston HyperX 3K 120 GB SSD. I'm using a Cooler Master GX 650W PSU.

If I need to upgrade my components, what components should I upgrade? My current budget is $250. Is it possible for me to get a stable 144 fps without building an entirely new system?

Thank you.

Solution
Everything. Upgrade everything.

Your system is a budget build at best, only really designed around 1080P 60fps, you will need a new CPU and probably still a new GPU.

EDIT: I didn't see your budget, sorry. Yes upgrade the CPU first. If you want max settings, you NEED a new GPU aswell. Easilly out of your price range.

Something like this you would need to achieve 144fps:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 3 1300X 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($128.48 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: ASRock - A320M Pro4 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard ($64.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-3000 Memory ($86.89 @ Amazon)
