My msi z97 gaming 7 has been working for 2 years without hiccups. Suddenly stopped booting one morning. Would turn off after a split second. Z97 debug light wont turn on as well. Tested ram and psu both are fine. Stripped it down to just mobo cpu and psu and breadboarded it. Still no success. Im using an i5 4460. Help. Im torn between buying a new mobo or cpu i cant seem to determine which one is defective.

Did you have RAM in when you breadboarded? You didn't list. You should have a single stick in the first slot.

It is possible that a DIMM died, cheaper than a CPU anyway.

EDIT: I see that you tested the RAM, was this in a separate machine?
