Hi all,

Thank you for taking time to read my post.
To start off, here's the spec of my cpu

Processor: i5-6600k (skylake)
Mobo: asus maximus 8 hero
Ram: 2x ddr4 4gb (crucial)
Gpu: asus strix 1060 dc2o6g (the 2 fan variety)
Psu: seasonic 620w modular
Hdd/ssd: 2x samsung 250g.1tb wd

What i already tried:

This is a new build which i have been working on the past 2 days. At first (after building, with everything connected) i wasnt able to put any display in my monitor but the cpu was running with a varying post code errors. After dealing with them all by just relying on post codes and this forum (without display) i was able to get rid of all of them.
The thing is, i had to remove each component that wasnt necessary for the boot to at least get myself to bios. Tried booting with my main ssd to install os (display plugged in mobo working) got the computer going by adding a component each post. The cpu is currently working with everything except the gpu.
I already tried reflashing the bios with usb.
I read the sticky tread about post and no diplay already and it helped me get up to this point.
The gpu is connected to the mobo via the pcie16x and to the psu via 6pin/8pin connection and i tried connecting it to all possible pcie modules in the psu

Problem: whenever i plug my gpu in and fire up the cpu it just runs but no display is showing even if i connect through the mobo. And i cant go to bios with it plugged.
Also the asus bios that i have cant select the gpu if it is not inserted in the pcie slot (which i cant do because no display to go to bios)

Indicators:
-At startup, about 3-4 seconds i can see my gpu fans spinning but it will stop.
-cpu still runs with post code a0 (mobo manual states that this means it is running smoothly, note that this is the post code i have when i installed the os and other drivers without gpu, which i think just indicates that everything is good)

Can anyone help me make this work please?
Is this gpu defective or is there something i can do to make it work?
My last option would be to return it since i might have lost the receipt, i can still return it via asking for the transaction through my credit card, but will take longer.

Solution
Ok so does your PC work with the GPU on and you just can't see anything? Or does it stop completely. Because if you do not change the monitor mode even on newer models, from DVI/HDMI/DP to what you want, it still won't light up the screen at all.

I had this issue just a few days ago with my new monitor but then I checked the settings and saw an option there. Changed it, instantly worked using Display Port.

Yup, i did connect it to the gpu whenever i try to test it again. There is no display on the monitor when connected to the gpu and on the motherboard when the gpu is installed.
I am using hdmi cable for both connections (no other display ports in mobo).
The hdmi/display connection works in mobo if gpu is not inserted

Does the GPU spin it's fans or lights up?
If not, then check if you connected your PCI-E cables from the PSU correctly. Or check if your GPU can still move. If it does, push it in properly. Until it's locked into the motherboard and the metal part comes out on the other side.

Otherwise, what adapter do you use? Hdmi? DP? Check your monitor settings and select the proper connectivity option. HDMI DVI DP.

I connect through hdmi, and yes the gpu is firmly in place and connected to the psu, the fans spin for 3-4 seconds after powering it on.
I currently have no other cables but i can get some later, i will have to try that and get back here after work.
Thanks for the suggestions, later also i'll try to test the gpu in my friend's computer and/or try his gpu in my new build just so i can eliminate that as a potential problem.
I will give updates in this thread regarding the results. Thanks!

Hi cioby, i think you might be on to something. Yes, it does work with gpu on but without display. Though the gpu itself, im assuming, shuts down after a few seconds (fans spinning at start-up, without display, then fans will stop spinning, still no display, then i transfer connection to mobo in the same start-up, no display).
Regarding the monitor mode. I will try to connect later with a different (non-hdmi) cable as i dont have a readily available one right now.

Sorry for taking a while to reply. Been busy lately and haven't touched the build until a few moments ago.
Thank you all for helping me, the solution (for me) was quite related to what cioby said, i tried connecting with dvi and it worked.
I haven't crossed this off the first time because the mobo only has hdmi port. My monitor by default wouls go to dvi input per new connection and it never occurred to me to change it to hdmi since i've been connecting to it with hdmi from mobo.
Anyway, thank you all really, i almost lost hope here.
