Using 2 dual channel kits not booting?

Hey, my friend recently decided to upgrade his memory by purchasing the exact same dual channel kit that he has. When he tried using all 4 sticks, the PC won't boot but it will if he tries every stick separately.

Any ideas on how to solve this, or was it simply pointless to try using two dual channel kits together?

Memory manufacturers guarantee the rated specifications of any memory to be obtainable only in the kit it is sold in. If you are adding an additional set of memory, the memory may not work due to the extra stress on the memory controller.

Since you are using memory that has never been tested together there are no guarantees that it will work or how it will work. You are faced with doing your own compatibility testing. You may call this an upgrade.

Workarounds in order to get an extra set of memory to work, you will need to relax the timings and/or frequencies. Another option you may need to do is increase the dram voltages or reducing the CPU multiplier.
