I got this board in 2013

ASUS M5A97 R2.0 AM3+ AMD 970 with an AMD FX 6300

I was wondering if there's a way to tweak it or update the settings or BIOS to make it more efficient and fast, I'm not talking about overclocking but just to make it run better.

Solution

Once you are in the Advanced BIOS, go to the AI Tweaker tab

  • ■ Change the AI Overclock Tuner from Auto to D.O.C.P.

Change the AI Overclock Tuner from Auto to D.O.C.P.

    ■ Select the DRAM O.C. Profile drop box

    ■ Select your XMP profile, here it is Profile #0

That's it, just save and exit after that.

If you have not changed anything, it is highly likely that your RAM is running at 1333MHz, thought it seems the timings are the same. It may not make a huge difference, but enabling the XMP profile will likely give you a bit of a boost there.

Is enabling the XMP profile an easy task to do in this board?

No problem, glad I was able to help. Those extra MHz should make a bit of a difference for you I hope.
