I am curious if my overclock is unstable when I apply it and a second later the monitor goes blank and comes back up fine. After this, everything works seemingly perfect. If I lower the overclock, there are fragments within games. As a side note, what is considered a good overclock for an evga gtx 1080 ftw?

Solution
something sounds unstable but not sure if it is your overclock since the fragments are at lower speeds. Are those fragments at stock? If yes you may have got a bad card. As for a good OC for a GTX 1080...2ghz (max boost speed) or so. I have heard some folks hitting 2.1ghz max boost. Which translates into about 1793mhz base/1933mhz boost/2076mhz max boost (my Oc on 2 GTX 1080s)

This helps a lot to know what other people are getting! Luckily fragments are only occurring during on oc, so not a bad card thank god. I’ll try a similar clock speed to yours and see what happens

On the stock air cooler, with decent air flow and a custom fan curve, I'd expect boost 3.0 to deliver 2000(on the bottom end) to 2050 (average) under load.

With a decent voltage / frequency curve, 2100 is usually pretty easy to hit.
