What does this mean?

Hi sorry, I know a bit about computers but I can't figure what to search or how to find what this is.
So I built my computer about two years ago and everything is great. But I remember having this question but then forgetting about, then finding a video about it today made me wonder. What does "Sata Express Intel GbE LAN" mean? It's on my mobo but does this mean I can get faster hdd speeds? And if so, how? I need a wire to connect to that little M.2? Or does that mean I can just get a M.2 ssd? Please just someone explain this to me...

USAFRet got the SATA Express part.

The Intel GbE LAN part is describing the Intel networking chip on your board giving you Gigabit Ethernet.

And the part circled in the pic is the M.2 port can support up to 32Gb/s transfer rates because it's got PCIe 3.0 x4 lanes (each PCIe 3.0 lane can give 8Gb/s transfer speed). You can use an M.2 NVMe SSD at its top speed.

The little brackets show the important bit. It is showing that the SATA Express connection can utilize 2x PCIe 3.0 lanes and the theoretical maximum data transfer rate is 16 Gb/s

It is marketing wank

It means it has standard SATA III ports, and also a SATA Express port, for the vanishingly rare SATA Express connected drives.

SATA Express gives better performance than regular SATA.

However, SATA Express never really caught on. It came out at a bad time and M.2 (which is 2x faster) replaced it.
