hi everyone

I have a hard drive that I got from a friend who is developing a proprietary file system to suit his needs with file storage. I borrowed it to take a look, and I want to make a 1:1 clone of it so I can have a copy too. the only issue is, I wanted to use clonezilla (as I use that for everything), but I'm sure it won't be able to read an unknown file system .

I wanted to make it an image so I can copy it to as many hard drives as i want.

so pretty much any software that can make a byte by byte, 1:1 image that can be restored back to a drive will work for me. kinda like how clonezilla works

is there any software I can use to do this, or can clonezilla do this already and I just don't know about it.

thanks for the input

ps -- I hope I am explaining everything ok, English isn't very good for me. ask me if you want more info

interesting, ill give it a shot. I had kinda wanted a bootable tool so the drive will be untouched by windows, but I guess if it can't read the file system then it doesn't matter.

If the inventor has altered MFT, the sector size, the cluster size, and so on, my wild guess is: one has to find a program that strictly will read each and every ON bit and OFF bit from start to finish and produces a clone onto an external hard-drivel; it would have to not care a whit about UEFI, BIOS, MFT, sector or cluster. Others will correct me if I'm incorrect.
If memory serves me, years ago, PC-Tools (Beaverton?) came up with a floppy drive copier that pretty much copied the ON bits and the OFF bits of the source floppy disk and made a clone onto a target floppy diskette.

Thanks for your answers, I'll try them out shortly.

Also, another question is, would it be possible to copy that image to a hard drive larger than the image? (e.g. a 500GB image from a 500GB drive cloned to a 750GB drive.)

Ok, so I tried HDD Raw Copy Tool first, as it was free, but the hard drive doesn't even appear in device manager. I will have to ask him what I did wrong. it is in an old adapter connected to my pc, but idk

I haven't tried ghost yet because I have not buy it yet
