Wondering what would be a decent upgrade for this card. I've got my sights set on a gtx1060 6GB but I just need some reassurance that this will be a meaningful upgrade. What kind of gains can I expect when playing games like Assassin's creed, or Destiny 2.

I dont use any fancy gaming monitor either. I use this tv as the monitor. Would it be dumb to get 6gb VRAM when im not using a proper gaming monitor?

Also, is the processor powerful enough to not be a bottleneck?

Specs:
CPU: i5 4460
GPU: r9 270x 2GB
RAM: 16gb ddr3-1600

Thanks.

Solution
i5 4460 is still ok for gaming. It is s a bottleneck for some new AAA processor intensive titles but not something you should be worried about for a 60 fps max.
For 1080p 60 hz, yes, GTX1060 6GB is the best option. Some games consumes quite a lot of VRAM even for 1080p.
The jump from R9 270x to GTX1060 is quite big, I would really hit the "buy" button.

Also the 6GB GTX 1060 is not just a 3GB with double the VRAM. It also has more CUDA cores. Nvidia really should have labeled the 6GB the GTX 1060 Ti for better product differentiation. Too many people think the two cards are the same except for the memory. But right now the 6GB 1060 is priced $50-$100 more than they were originally released at thanks to miners targeting them now. But it will have a much longer useful life than the 3GB card.
