I'm looking to lower the temp of my CPU cores. cpuidhw monitor is showing temps as high as 94 celcius. Idling around 50-60.

I am currently OC'd to 4800 mhz. My cooling is: Noctua NH-D15 6 heatpipe with Dual NF-A15 140mm fans

I feel like my setup should be able to reach 4800 mhz, with lower temps though.
What should I be looking for specifically in the asus z270 uefi bios to get lower temperatures?

Solution

should be...
you should delide it then 7700K is known to be overheat
but do it only if you know what you are doing but still idle temp at 50-60 are too high you sure there is proper airflow in the case? and the cpu cooler heatsink are clean not blocked by the Dust

Not sure exactly which voltage to check. It's default at the moment. We've reapplied the heatsink and paste a few times to try and get the temperature down.

not likely to be default at 4.8ghz

on auto yes--but that means it automatically increases it as needed

use cpuz to see the core voltage

thats one of the best air coolers you can get

how much paste you using?

when you took off the cooler you should see how well the paste spread

We used maybe an inch of paste? Just a dab of it.

should be roughly about the same as 2 grains of rice

1.376v is the max shown there thats quite high

got my 7700k at default just now as helping some one else compare cpus

but at 4.5ghz with turbo enabled on ALL cores it takes 1.2v so you are getting quite a bit of extra voltage on auto

just for 300mhz more

personally i would change that auto vcore in bios down to something like 1.3v

then see if can still do 4.8ghz and if so how much temps drop
