I have a western digital elements 1tb external hdd model wd10eacs. There is a control board that you can separate from the hdd when you take everything apart from the exterior casing. This control board has a usb port and power port.
The usb port was damaged in my luggage while travelling. The computer will no longer recognize the hdd when plugged in. In the picture below, you can see where the prong from the control board is no longer attached on one side of the usb port.
Is there a solution as simple as resoldering the prong to the side or bottom of the usb port? Never tried soldering before. Other possible solutions? Please point me in the right direction.
