Ok I have a soundstream vrn 725b here is the thing it only does this when I turn on my lights
It will stop doing everything and won't do anything but display no signal and say rear on the system and I assume that it's trying to connect to the rear camera that's not there so is there any way to override that or set it up so it stops because I like to listen to music when I drive at night

have you tried disconnecting your rear camera?if it still does this it sounds like you are creating too much draw on the electrical system ie your alternator cant produce enough current for your sound system and lights at the same time.what is the make and model of your car?do you know how much your sound system draws?are your headlites stock or aftermarket?if we know the total draw from all accessories as well as alternator output,we should be able to put a finger on the problem here.

I doubt its the alternator, if the alternator was the problem everything would be ok until the battery volts drop then other problems would occur such as difficulty turning the engine over when starting.

oh but it can be the alternator.if the car has a volt guage, just watch it drop if the draw is more than the alternator can handle.as for turning over to start, this would not be a problem as it is not a constant draw.in other words once you shut off the engine the draw stops.ive been an automotive mechanic for over 30 years and have seen this lots.ultimately we need more info from the op.

You should only see a drop to approximately 13.5v under 'normal' loads, you may see a voltage sag lower when starting. If its dropping more than that under high load (headlights, stereo, heated seats) the battery is either insufficient capacity, dying, poor quality. The alternator is there to charge the battery, the battery is there to power the electrics.

listem,im not going to get into a pissing match over something ive been doing half my life.if the op can post some specs i will be pleased to help.

Its not a passing match, just stating an opinion. You should be able to run all electrics in the car without any problem with the engine not running, only after time when the voltages gets low enough will you start having problems or when you go to start the engine. The battery should be perfectly capable of this, if not something is wrong with the battery. If you need the alternator voltage to run the electrics properly then in my view you are masking the underlying problem of a battery issue. I respect your opinion and have added reasoning to mine. I'm happy to get back to the OP's issue.

the problem isn't that its not being powered the problem is that when I turn the switch that turns on the headlights the soundstream vrn 725b display says no signal but where the volume switch is it says rear on its display and I can have my phone connected to it through bluetooth and if i get a call it will display the bluetooth but won't let me interact with it My brother said that just means its trying to connect to the rear camera (which i never had nor was ever installed on my car) and all i need to do was to either wire it direct power or to somehow remove the wire that connects to the cameraand I know its not my battery or alternater because i can disconnect the battery and my car will still run fine and i can have the engine turned off and still run all the electronics fine it only acts up when i turn my switch that controls my headlights brights and foglights and turn signal I drive a 2003 Mitsubishi diamante Vrx and I didn't have this problem until this new stereo was installed
