Motherboard: Gigabyte B85M-D3H-A
CPU: I5 4690k
GPU: HIS r9 280x iceq x2
PSU: Corsair CX750

Hello, starting two days ago, my desktop experienced multiple crashes while playing Rocket League and PUBG.
The screen would go dark and I was forced to restart.

I am fairly certain that it was not due to overheat, however, as couple of the crashes were right after I booted up the games and I was monitoring the GPU temperature.

Today, I experienced another crash, and this time my PC would not boot up( no BIOS).
I tried fiddling with the RAM, resetting the BIOS, reinstalling the graphics drivers. None of them worked.
The only way I can currently get it to boot is if I remove the GPU from the motherboard and use the onboard card.

Does this mean that my GPU is toast?

You must of Fried it by pushing it too much go and see somebody that can check the problem he/she will tell you if anything is fried. Or if you know replace it.

It is definitely possible. You may have to test your components in a know-good system to know for sure.
