Solution
Few things, change that psu to a corsair txm 550.
Get a decent cooler like the cryorig h5 ultimate.
If you are not gonna buy ur parts immediately, I would suggest you to wait like a month and get the 8700k and a z370 mobo.

Yes, I did a ton of reading last night after hearing about this. I was a dummy and bought this PSU without researching it b/c it was on sale and I needed one that day.

Should I be urgently looking into a replacement? I got a bit overwhelmed with reviews and shopping last night.

I wouldn't say the g1 is complete garbage , just fairly average for gold rated unit in all honesty.

Already own it ? I wouldn't worry that much , I just wouldn't buy one if you're looking now as there are far better ones for the same or less money.

I feel like I got suckered by the marketing wank but if it isn't a physical danger to my components I may not run out and get another immediately.

I am running an overclocked FX-8370 and RX 580 8GB, which are both power hungry, what do you think?

You'll probably be okay. It's certainly not the worst unit in the world just mostly ticks me off when they make the name close to their good stuff and make it gold rated (which many people think means quality it doesn't it just means it's pretty energy efficient) so suckers will buy an overpriced poor psu. Even a $30 seasonic 520 or 620evo are vastly better built

Wouldn't change it for the sake of it personally.
The g1's have never been anything approaching dangerous , the main criticism is they were marketed as a high end premium unit (with a price tag to match) when infact they were a tinkered with fsp aurum with downrated quality caps.

Still better than at least 70% of psu's out there in the wild , just not as good as then other 30%.

Yes, I have the 650W G1; however, your power draw numbers are low. My CPU is at 4.6GHz 1.4ish volts and my GPU has a modified BIOS and is capable of pulling 300W.

No, I was just benchmarking for stability testing and to push the clocks up. I have not noticed the fan running loudly ever but it is only a few months old.

There is a bronze NAXN power supply in my old system, which is going to my brother. It is a Phenom II X4 965 @ 3.8 GHz and EVGA Classified GTX 560Ti 448 core (also OC'd). Would the G1 do alright in there and I can look for an upgrade?

I wouldn't feel as bad about that since the NAXN one is likely worse and is several years old.
