a memory issue?

I have an ASUS AIO with 8G memory. When browsing, I have a lot of tabs open. 10 isn't unusual. And the memory in Task Mgr often seems to run high. With one browser open, and a few tabs, 40-50% is normal. With 10 open for a few days, it may crawl up to 70%. I try to keep it under 60, but that means saving URL's and restarting the browser.
If I have another browser open, or my wife does, it gets worse. And runs slower. But it rarely gets above 75.
I was told when I bought it that 8G was 'plenty'. But it doesn't seem so. I probably can't add more RAM. The computer is ~5yo, and it still runs fine. So I hate to replace it - but... When I restart the browser, maybe every week or so, it runs fine.
So it sounds like I just need to restart. But is it the memory that is the problem? The CPU data generally is good. If I do replace it, would 16G be worth it? (not sure why they charge an extra $2-300 for that!)
Thanks

Solution
Browsers can accumulate a lot of cache during time they are opened so you have to restart them every now and than. Most browsers you can close and restart even with multiple tabs open and will reopen them upon restart.
