Understanding the (O.C.) for RAMs

Hi

I am in the process of buying new hardware and I have seen the (O.C.) prefix for certain RAM speeds before, but I am not sure on how to interpret this (I know it stands for overclock).

When the motherboard states that it supports 3200MHZ (O.C.) - does that mean:
- I can buy 3200MHZ RAM sticks and install those?
- I can buy RAM sticks supported by the motherboard, without the (O.C.) prefix and then overclock those to 3200MHZ?

Regards,
Soren

The speed will not make a huge difference in your day-to-day operations. I suggest getting the best / fastest you can fit into your budget.

The OC means that you will have to overclock the RAM to reach those speeds. If you just plug in the DIMMs and go, they will run at 2400MHz

Enabling the XMP profile in the BIOS is fairly straightforward
