Can a Cooler Master GX550W bronze 80+ rated PSU is enough to run GTX780?

Hi everyone,

As stated above, I just bough a used GTX780 for about 120$ for my brother and I use a CM GX550W PSU to run it, so far it is running fine, but I just wondered should I swap it out to somewhat a greater PSU because I did some research on it and many people said it should work even with 450W as long as you use a branded and rated PSU. The 650W psu I found quite cheap was Cooler Master GX650W Bronze 80+ rated for about 35$ (I stay in Malaysia and everything here is crazily priced). Please advise, thank you.

A 600W PSU with 1 x 6 pin and 1 x 8 pin is the required min according to Nvidia. But that is for the reference card. If yours is a factory OC'ed model, it will be wise to have more. But if this is your PSU, it has a strong +12V rail. So it should be fine IMO if it is in good condition and if you have it plugged into a surge protector.
