I recently installed new RAM (link) and set it to 2400mhz in bios, booted and suddently the computer just turned off/restarted. The second time I got into a game before it happened again. I earlier had 1333mhz ram that was set to 1600, so I set the new ones at 1866, and it works fine now.

Does it mean that my MBO (link) cant handle 2400? It says under specifications that it supports 2800 (oc), so why wouldnt 2400 work?

I read some other posts about changing the timing or something a few days back, but I'm clueless when it comes to overclocking and setting volts etc.

Solution

setting the timings manually should get them to work, or using an XMP profile. You do that through the bios.
