I'm looking to buy an AMD Ryzen5 1500X. It is the right price and the reviews seem good. My motherboard is a LENOVO MAHOBAY. I can't seem to find any more information about what my motherboard is

Solution

For your budget I'd go with this, as others have stated you would need to replace your motherboard & RAM as...
From what i cn find Lenovo Mahobay is an h61 chipset support INTEL cpus from 2012-2013 era. It supports the 2nd and 3rd generation intel cpus using socket 1155.

You cant just put any CPU you want in a 5 year old system, 99% chance it is not going to be compatible.

You will not only need new motherboard to support Ryzen (or 6th/7th gen Intel CPU) but also need new DDR4 memory.

  • Operating System - Windows 10
    CPU- Intel Pentium G645
    RAM- 12.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3
    Motherboard- LENOVO MAHOBAY
Graphics- 1024MB ATI AMD Radeon R7 200 Series

I'm in Canada and I was hoping not to spend $400 on a new one but it looks like I might have to do that. I use my computer for gaming and dual core really inst working for me anymore. When I bought it I didn't have a whole lot of money and just said i would upgrade later on.

For your budget I'd go with this, as others have stated you would need to replace your motherboard & RAM as newer tech is support by DDR4. At stock this R3 1200 will be a massive improvement and it can be overclocked to at least 3.8ghz with the stock AMD Wraith cooler.

I would then save up and get a 1050 ti 4gb or at the very least a 1050 2gb for gaming.

So it's just best if for me to buy a new motherboard and RAM instead of finding a compatible CPU with what I got?
