Basic X299 question about 2d graphics

This may seem like a simple question, but I've seen built in video on so many MBs/cpus, that I'm confused about 2d. I'm pretty clear you need a video card to run even basic games on x299. The question is, can you run the computer at all? I don't clearly see any video outputs on any of the motherboards, so I think probably the answer is no. But in my book it's always nice to be able to build and use a computer for basic 2d things without having to commit to a particular graphics card, or if your card is causing problems or has died. As I don't really have a spare card, I'd have to either get a cheap one for that purpose, or decide which team and model I want to go with as a chosen gaming card, a decision that may not be done as soon as everything else. Thanks if you can explain.

Solution
the mobo's have no gpu built in, that stopped 3+ years ago, the cpu's have none because they simply don't. So you need a GPU, for testing purposes get a 710 or something cheap.
